How old do you have to be to receive the COVID-19 booster?

The following age groups are currently authorized to receive a COVID-19 booster:

• Pfizer-BioNTech: age 12 and up
• Moderna: age 18 and up
• Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen: age 18 and up

At this time, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 booster is authorized and adolescents aged 12 to 17.

Additionally, a second booster dose is recommended if:

• You are over the age of 50, and it has been at least 4 months since you received an initial booster dose. You may receive a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna booster.
• You are over the age of 12, are immunocompromised, and it has been at least 4 months since you received an initial booster dose. You may receive the Pfizer-BioNTech booster. 
• You are over the age of 18, are immunocompromised, and it has been at least 4 months since you received an initial booster dose. You may receive the Moderna booster.
